Barundi Medical Camps – Punjab, India

Breaking barriers, making healthcare affordable for all.

Barundi is a quaint village located in the heart of Punjab, where rural life often faces significant challenges, particularly when it comes to healthcare. While the village is rich in tradition and community spirit, many residents still lack access to essential medical services, including eye care. The government’s support for healthcare infrastructure in rural areas like Barundi has been limited, and as a result, people often struggle to receive timely treatment for common issues such as vision problems.

The lack of proper eye care resources has led to many individuals suffering from conditions that could be easily treated with access to professional healthcare. For a long time, the people of Barundi had limited options for vision correction or eye health check-ups, which impacted their overall quality of life.

Our Contribution & Impact

Tej & Sukh Sekhon Foundation has been committed to improving healthcare access in Barundi and surrounding villages. Recognizing the urgent need for better eye care services in rural areas, Tejinder and his team decided to focus on providing free eye check-ups to Barundi’s residents. This initiative was aimed at addressing the growing demand for eye health services and ensuring that no one was left behind due to lack of access or financial means.

Through these camps, Tej & Sukh Sekhon Foundation has made a significant impact on the health and well-being of Barundi’s residents. Over the years, the foundation has provided:

  1. Prescription Eyeglasses: More than 5,000 individuals in Barundi have received prescription eyeglasses, improving their vision and enhancing their ability to perform daily activities and work with ease.

  2. Cataract Surgeries: Over 2,000 cataract surgeries have been performed successfully, restoring sight and improving the quality of life for those who were suffering from vision loss due to cataracts.

  3. Comprehensive Eye Health Check-ups: Thousands of residents have benefited from free eye check-ups, helping to detect vision problems early on and prevent the progression of untreated eye conditions.

  4. Awareness and Education: In addition to medical treatments, the foundation has raised awareness about eye health and the importance of regular eye check-ups, educating the villagers on how to take better care of their eyes.

Giving the gift of sight and hope.
