The Kalahandi Tribal Donation Camp – Odisha, India

Empowering Indigenous Communities with Care and Support

Kalahandi, home to several tribal communities, is one of the most underdeveloped regions in India. The indigenous tribes here live in remote villages, often struggling with poverty, lack of education, poor healthcare, and minimal access to essential resources. Their traditional ways of life, deeply connected to nature and agriculture, are threatened by economic hardships, making survival increasingly difficult.

Recognizing their struggles,  Tej & Sukh Sekhon Foundation stepped in to empower, uplift, and support the tribal communities of Kalahandi through the Tribal Donation Camp.

Our Contribution & Impact

1. Basic Necessities & Clothing Distribution – Many tribal families lack access to basic needs. We organized donation camps to provide:

• Clothing, blankets, and footwear to help them survive harsh weather conditions.
• Essential supplies like food grains, cooking utensils, and hygiene kits to improve their quality of life.

2. Medical Assistance & Healthcare Camps

• We arranged free medical check-ups and healthcare camps for tribal families who rarely have access to hospitals or doctors.
• Medicines and emergency aid were distributed to those suffering from untreated illnesses.

3. Education & Community Empowerment

• We focused on education for tribal children, providing books, school supplies, and guidance to help them build a brighter future.
• Our volunteers worked closely with the tribal elders and youth, helping them understand their rights and opportunities for a better livelihood.

4. Working Alongside Tribes – Living Their Life

At  Tej & Sukh Sekhon Foundation, we believe in understanding the struggles first-hand. Our team spent time:

• Living with tribal families, learning about their traditions and hardships.
• Helping them in farming, cattle herding, and daily labour, gaining insight into their way of life.
• Listening to their concerns and finding long-term solutions to uplift their communities.
